Now and Not Yet is a social enterprise and we care passionately about people, coffee and food.
We are a quirky, loveable team who are in awe of the incredible Warrandyte community. Now and Not Yet started in 2014 and we are a business based around social and community objectives. We reinvest our profits back into the community – so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of the business.
Our staff and volunteers are our heroes and the heartbeat of the cafe. We hold community and relationships as a core value…because really, we are all about people. We believe in the power of community, in doing life together, in collective wisdom, in new ideas, in collaboration and if we need motivation, we borrow some from each other.
As a not for profit social enterprise any profit that we make goes back into the community.
How do we support the community?
• Grants and funding to community groups
• Housing and employment of asylum seekers
• By providing free studio space for a large variety of creative artists
• Compassionate Vouchers
We also support the community by offering this space for other like minded enterprises.
Create Space Art Studio
Artists work during the day on different projects, fine art, clay, ceramics, glass, writing and wire sculpture. Workshops happen from time to time and art classes often run during the day. It is a collaborative and empowering space.
As a non for profit enterprise, we allow artists to use the studio for no charge and they are also able to sell their work without paying any commission. In return most of the artists volunteer in the cafe from time to time.
Blur Support Group
Blur Support Group is a safe place for people suffering mind health issues, or for anyone who is currently having a hard time. It is a confidential peer led mind health support group.
With approximately one in four people experiencing a mental health issue in the course of their lives, we are eager to provide a supportive environment for those suffering from a mind health matters.
Blur support group meets twice a month on a Tuesday night at 8pm.
At blur we support people by sharing, encouraging and learning for each other’s experiences. The biggest obstacle toward mind health management or recovery is typically ourselves. We often suffer in silence preferring to keep our feelings and struggles private.
Now and Not Yet supports employment and housing for asylum seekers.
One man Nigethan made the journey to Australia by boat from Sri Lanka.
Nige is now a much loved member of our community and is a fantastic cook.
Periodically we host Tamil Food Feasts where Nigethan cooks up a storm of tantalising authentic Tamil Food.
All the profits from these nights go toward the continued employment, and housing of asylum seekers by Now and Not Yet.
